WINTER PARK, Fla. (August 1, 2012) - President Barack Obama will host a grassroots event at the Rollins College Alfond Sports Center on Thursday, August 2, it was announced on BarackObama.com. The rally was postponed from two weeks ago because of the theater shootings in Colorado.
Rollins volleyball camp, which was scheduled for the Alfond Sports Center this week, will be moved to the Orlando Volleyball Academy Wednesday and Thursday. Campers will then return to campus for the final day of camp Friday.
Please expect major traffic delays throughout Winter Park, especially on Fairbanks Ave., throughout the day Thursday.
The doors will open at noon. The campaign says he will discuss "the choice in this election between two fundamentally different visions of how to grow the economy, create middle-class jobs and pay down the debt."
Obama will argue that the only way to create an economy built to last is to build it from the middle out, not the top down, paying down the debt and still investing in education, energy innovation and infrastructure.
The campaign says he will discuss his proposal to restore middle-class security by paying down our debt in a balanced way that ensures everyone pays their fair share and still invests in the things we need to create jobs and grow our economy over the long term, like education, energy, innovation, and infrastructure.
Those with tickets to the canceled event can exchange them for new tickets at:
The Orlando Organizing for America Office in Orlando, 1516 Colonial Drive, Suite 203; the Organizing for America Office in Kissimmee, at 1004 Royal Street; the Organizing for America Office in Sanford, at 1426 West 1st Street; the Rollins College Advancement Office, the Comstock Building, 120 East Comstock Ave., Winter Park.
