WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 19, 2012) - The Rollins men's and women's tennis teams will head in the 2013 season both ranked nationally. The Tars men's team checked in at No. 6 in the first ITA rankings of the season, while the women sit at No. 13.

The Rollins men, mainstays in the top-10, finished last season ranked sixth. Armstrong Atlantic is No. 1, followed by West Florida and Lynn.

In the regional rankings, the Tars open in fourth, behind West Florida, Lynn and Barry.

Tars sophomore Malte Christesen, after being named All-SSC honorable mention as a freshman, ranks at the 36th -best singles player in the nation.

In doubles, the tandem of Jason Alabaster and Cooper Maxwell rank 14th. Alabaster earned All-America honors in doubles last season.

The Tars begin their season Sunday, Feb. 3 at UCF.

On the women's side, Armstrong Atlantic is No. 1, followed by BYU Hawaii and Abilene Christian. In the region, the Tars sit in fifth in the South with Lynn sitting in the top spot in the preseason rankings.

After posting a 13-11 regular season last year Rollins finished the year in the same 13th spot in the final ITA Division II poll.

The Tars' top singles player, Elissa DeCampli,  ranked 14th in the challenging South Region while Lisa Loft sits at No. 16 followed by Ashley Rosenberg at 20th in singles while Loft and sister Ashley rank ninth in doubles

Bev Buckley's squad begins its season Friday, Feb. 8, traveling to 17th ranked Florida Southern.
