MELBOURNE, Fla. (January 9, 2013) - Rollins head coach Tom Klusman recorded his 600th career victory as the Tars beat Florida Tech 74-62 on the road Wednesday.

Klusman is now 600-332 in his 33rd year leading the Tars program. His first victory was a 95-73 win over Webber College on Dec. 4, 1980. The 1976 graduate of Rollins is the 15th coach in Division II history to reach the milestone and just the fifth among active coaches. Across all divisions, all-time, only 68 have accumulated 600 victories.

The victory for the Tars moved them to 10-2 on the season and 3-0 in Sunshine State Conference play. Saint Leo is the only other unbeaten team in the SSC. Tech falls to 6-5 overall and 0-2 in conference.

Kyle McClanahan led the Tars with 19 points, six rebounds and six assists. Dave Diakite added 16 behind a 10-for-10 night at the free throw line. Brett Chance hit a trio of 3-pointers en route to 15 points.

Chris Carter led FIT and all scorers with 23 points while also gathering eight rebounds.

Playing in front of a large, hostile crowd, Rollins closed the first half on an 18-5 run and led 37-23 at the break. The Tars were up by as much as 22 late the game and never let the Panthers closer than 12.

The Tars were 12-of-21 in the second half and ended the day 49 percent (24-49) from the floor. Tech hit just seven first half buckets and finished 22-for-60 (36 percent), including just 2-for-19 from 3-point range. Rollins was outrebounded 36-35 and were hit for 21 turnovers while forcing 15.
