WINTER PARK, Fla. (July 10, 2013) – Rollins standout swimmer Mike Weinstein is set to represent the USA at the 19th Annual Maccabiah Games in Israel.

The Class of 2013 graduate will take to the pool July 21-24, competing in five events.

“I’m very excited for Mike to be representing Rollins and the United States at the Maccabiah Games,” said Rollins Head Coach Dr. Rich Morris. “This is a great opportunity and it couldn’t have happened to a better person. Mike has been a team captain for us the last two seasons, leading the team with his work ethic and passion. Getting to travel halfway around the world to represent his country doing what he loves is a great cap to his college career.”

Opening ceremonies will be held in Jerusalem on July 18. Weinstein is one of 12 male swimmers on the US team. He will compete in the 50-yard, 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle events as well as the 100-yard backstroke. Weinstein will also participate in the open water swim on July 28 in the Sea of Galilee.

The Maccabiah Games is the third-largest sporting event in the world with more than 8,000 Jewish athletes competing.

Weinstein, an Allentown, Pa. native, was a four-year letterwinner and former Sunshine State Conference Swimmer of the Week for the Tars. He holds three school records; two individual and one relay.
