NORMAN, Okla. (July 25, 2013) – Charlie Fitzgerald and Davis Hall have been named Cleveland Golf/Srixon Division II All-American Scholars as they wrap up the final awards for the 2012-13 season, it was announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Wednesday.
Fitzgerald, a graduating senior for the Tars, concluded his final season at Rollins with a 76.4 stroke average, shooting a season-low 69 at the Guy Harvey Invitational. He competed in all but one tournament for the Tars missing the season-opening tournament in St. Augustine, Fla.
Hall, a sophomore, was one of the Tars’ top performers in 2012-13. He posted a 74.2 stroke average, matching a career-low 69 at the Bobcat Invitational. Hall registered six top-20 performances, including four in the top-10.
Fitzgerald and Hall join 152 total players between Division I, II and NAIA in receiving this prestigious honor. To be eligible for the Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-American Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team’s competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke average under 78.0 in DII and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
