Volleyball Tabbed Fourth in SSC Preseason Poll

WINTER PARK, Fla. (August 21, 2013) – Coming off an 18-15 season and third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament last year, Rollins was predicted to finish fourth in the 2013 Sunshine State Conference volleyball preseason poll, it was announced Wednesday by the conference office.

Tampa, who has won at least a share of the last eight SSC volleyball titles, was voted as this year’s preseason favorite for the fifth straight year.  The Spartans received 64 points and eight first place votes. 

Taking the runner-up spot with 54 points was Eckerd as they also received the remaining first place vote.  Florida Southern was voted third (53) while Rollins received 40 points for fourth place.  Rounding out the top-five was Barry with 37 points. 

Following Barry was Lynn (26) and Saint Leo (24) while Florida Tech and Nova Southeastern tied for eighth with 13 points each.

The Tars open up the 2013 season on the road at the 7th Annual Shark Classic hosted by Nova Southeastern.  Rollins will take on Barton College in the season opener slated for 11:30 a.m.  Follow the Tars all season long at the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
