Rollins’ legendary rowing coach is hanging up his oars—maybe.
It’s been 53 years since Jim Lyden ’60 graduated and became an assistant crew coach at Rollins; 50 years since he first went with the team to compete in London’s fabled Henley Royal Regatta; 48 years since he became head crew coach; and 33 years since he stepped aside. He is 79 now—the age at which you say things like “every day above ground is a good day”—though you wouldn’t know it to look at him.
