NEW YORK (August 28, 2013) – The Golf World/WGCA Division II College Women’s Preseason Coaches’ Poll, released Wednesday, debuts the Rollins women’s golf team as the third-ranked team in the nation.
Defending National Champion Lynn topped the poll as they defend their title in the No. 1 spot to start the 2013-14 season. The Fighting Knights received 16 first-place votes while Nova Southeastern was voted No. 2 in the poll with seven first-place votes.
The Sunshine State Conference continues to display its dominance in the preseason poll as the remaining three slots in the top-five hail from the conference. Joining SSC members Lynn and NSU is Rollins as the Tars were voted third with one first-place vote. Barry and Florida Southern round out the top-five with Barry receiving one first-place vote.
Rollins did not field a team at the 2013 NCAA Division II National Championship but ran away with the Division II National Player and Freshman of the Year awards. Sophomore Annie Dulman became the third Tar in program history to garner both accolades.
