DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (September 15, 2013) - Rollins started its fall season over the weekend at the four-team Embry-Riddle Open.
In the Gold Flight, Malte Christesen and Will Kwok both posted a record of 2-1. Christesen defeated Erick Bermudz of CCG 6-2, 1-6, 6-3, fell to Deni Zmak 6-3, 6-1 and the beat Leo Lima 7-6 (3), 6-3 on day three. Kwok fell on Friday to Leo Lima 6-2, 604 but bounced back with wins on Saturday and Sunday.
Robin Marchione and Jason Alabaster played in the Blue Flight over the weekend. Marchione was a perfect 3-0, defeating Malhar Mali 6-2, 6-3 on day one, Anthony Grasso 6-1, 6-4 on day two, and Miguel Lopez Gomez 6-0, 6-1 on the final day. Alabaster beat Diego Garavito of BC on day one 6-7(3), 6-4, 6-3 on day one but stumbled on day two and day three.
Rollins was represented in the White Flight by Jacobo Herrero and Adrian Di Felice. Herrero was perfect for the weekend, defeated Greg Almeida (7-5, 6-2), Luke de Caires (7-5, 4-6, 7-6(3)), and Pablo Lopez (6-3, 6-0). DiFelice went 2-1, beating Juan Verberne 6-4, 6-2 on day one and Pablo Lopez 6-4, 6-2 on day two before falling 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 to de Caires on Sunday.
In doubles play, the teams of Kwok/Alabaster and Marchione/Chistesen each went 2-1 in the Gold Flight. On day, Kwok and Alabaster fell to Lobelo/Garavito 9-7 but came back with wins on day two, 8-4 over Bermudz/Zaatini, and on day three, 8-3 over Lopez/Grasso. Christesen and Marchione opened with a 9-7 win over Lopez/Grasso before falling to Lima/Tarin 8-2 on day two. They then came back with a 8-5 win over Lobelo/Garavito on Sunday.
In Blue Flight doubles, teams made up of Burger, Davis, Di Felice, Herrero went 5-1 over the weekend.
Rollins will be back in action Sept. 27-30 at the USTA/ITA South Region Championship in Penscola.
