WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 22, 2013) The Rollins volleyball team will be hosting the No. 2 Tampa Spartans in a midweek contest on Oct. 23 for Dig Pink Night. All proceeds collected will benefit The Side-Out Foundation.

Standing in third in the Sunshine State Conference rankings is Rollins, behind the second ranked Spartans and the Florida Southern Mocs. The Tars are coming off a 3-0 weekend at the GSC/SSC Crossover and will finish out the first round of conference matches this week.

ROLLINS AT A GLANCE: The Tars (17-4, 4-2) look stronger than ever coming off a tough 3-1 win over Shorter, which gave Sindee Snow her 250th career victory. Rollins battled it out with the Hawks, dropping the first set and winning the second by a two-point margin. Rollins cruised to the win in the final two sets.

Camille Indest leads the Tars offense with a .368 hitting percentage, which ranks 17th in the nation. She is averaging a team-best 3.76 kills per set (31st in the nation), to go with 0.87 blocks per frame. Indest is also third on the team in service aces with 16.

Junior Jessica Wilson continues to bring an all-around effort with a .338 hitting percentage, 2.16 kills per set and a team-best 0.97 blocks per frame. Wilson is also second on the team with 20 service aces.

As a team, Rollins is hitting .215 while holding opponents to a .125 attack percentage. April Jackson and MaryEllen Pole aide the Tars’ offense averaging 7.56 and 3.65 assists per set, respectively.

Defensively, Collyn Welsch leads the squad with 5.12 digs per set, which ranks 35th in the nation and is best in the SSC.

TAMPA AT A GLANCE: The second-ranked Spartans (18-1, 6-0) lead the SSC with a perfect mark of 6-0. Tampa participated in the UWF South Region Crossover, collecting four wins. The Spartans lone loss this season came against then-No. 4 Concordia-St. Paul at the Colorado Premier.

AVCA National Player of the Week Berkley Whaley leads the Spartans with 3.38 kills per set, to go with a .302 hitting percentage. She also leads the team with 26 service aces and is third in blocks with 44.

Meagan Burke is hitting a team-best .437 and is averaging 1.64 kills per set and 1.17 blocks per frame (68).

As a team, Tampa is hitting .304 and holding opponents to a .137 attack percentage. Kahley Patrick aides the Spartans offense with 7.44 assists per set.

Defensively, Jen Scholz leads the team with 3.35 digs per set, while Jessica Wagner adds 1.18 blocks per set.
