SKILLMAN, NJ (July 10, 2014) - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has announced its 2014 All-Academic Teams, with both the Rollins men’s and women’s team earning the honor. It marks the third straight All-Academic nod for the men and the eighth straight for the Tars women.

A total of 29 men’s teams and 56 women’s teams were recognized on Thursday. The Rollins women took home the Tars Athletic Communications Director’s GPA Trophy in the spring with a 3.67 combined GPA after posting a 3.54 in the fall. The men finished sixth in the spring with a 3.32 team GPA.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA member program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above.

On the women’s side, an impressive eight individuals were named ITA Scholar Athletes: Taylor Brown, Angela Crowley, Carli Davis, Elissa DeCampli, Shannon Etten, Ashley Loft, Johanna Olsson and Ashley Rosenberg.

Jason Alabaster, Malte Christesen, Ari Davis and Robin Marchione each earned the honor on the men’s side.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).

All members of the 2014 All-Academic Teams and ITA Scholar-Athletes receive a certificate to recognize the achievement.
