WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 5, 2017) – The Tars surrendered one early run, but then shut down the Nyack Warriors to register a victory in the team’s third game of the 69th annual Baseball Week Competition.  With the victory Rollins improves to 11-4 on the year.  Nyack falls to 2-3 with the loss.

After giving up a riun in the top of the first, Rollins scored in the first three frames to take a lead they would not surrender.  Nick Breen led the Tars out of the second spot in the lineup.  The right fielder went 3-4, scored three times and knocked in a run.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
·      The Warroirs sent one unearned run across the plate in the top of the first, but the Tars responded with a pair in the bottom of the frame.  Peter Nicoletto was hit by a pitch and tied the game, scoring on a Nick Breen double.  Breen then scored the eventual game winner on a Christopher Corbett double.
·      Mike Dolan lifted his second homerun of the year over the left field fence to give Rollins a 3-1 lead in the second.
·      A two out, two run homerun by Brian Brooker in the third extended the tars lead to 5-1.
·      The Tars took an inning off before putting up their sixth run.  Rollins capitalized on Breen’s leadoff triple when Corbett lifted a sacrifice fly into center field.
·      The Tars put the final nails in the Warriors’ coffins with three runs in the seventh inning.  Heads up base running by Nicoletto allowed the centerfielder to score on a throwing error by the Nyack catcher.  Breen, after a single, used a bevy of wild pitches to advance home and score Rollins’ eighth run.  Nick Santucci capped Rollins’ scoring efforts with an RBI single to left center which scored Corbett.
·      Auerbach was pulled after seven strong innings of work, giving up just the one unearned run.  He made way for Brett Scafidi who pitched a scoreless eighth before giving way to Garrett Leonard to close out the Tars victory
