After dropping a close 2-1 series to Lenoir-Rhyne this past weekend, which included a 13 inning finale, the Tars jump right back into conference play against Lynn University. The Tars are 17-11 overall this season, and 2-4 in the SSC, where they currently sit sixth in the conference standings. Lynn University is 20-10 overall this season, and 4-5 in the SSC where they have occupied they fifth spot just ahead of Rollins. Lynn is coming off a three-game skid against Florida Tech last weekend. The Fighting Knights lost game one 8-5, game two 4-3, and dropped the final game of the series, 9-3.
TRACKING THE TARS:
Brian Brooker continues to lead the team in batting average this season with a .370 in 26 games played. He has 37 hits, with 20 RBI, and four homeruns on the year. Peter Nicoletto continues to swing for the fences as he leads the Tars with six home runs this season. He has also hit six doubles and six triples on the year, good for a .646 slugging percentage and 24 RBI. Mike Purcell leads the team with 41 hits on the season, to go along with 18 RBI. As a team, the Tars are batting .300 on the year, with 293 hits and 160 RBI.
On the mound for the Tars, AJ Chacon leads the Tars in wins with five on the season. Brad Case has an ERA of 2.41, while Chacon has an ERA of 2.56. Joey Vecchione has tallied a team best five saves on the season, through 20.1 innings pitched.
TRACKING THE FIGHTING KNIGHTS:
The Fighting Knights are led by Patrick Dorrian who has 55 hits on the year, eight of those hits are doubles, one a triple, and seven home runs. Senior Miguel Ceballos is batting .313 on the year, and leads the Fighting Knights hitting 11 home runs this season. As a team, the Fighting Knights have 398 hits on the year, and have touched home plate on 282 of those hits, they are batting .358 this season.
Donovan Armas continues to lead the Fighting Knights on the pitcher’s mound. Armas has compiled a record of 5-1 this season with a 2.70 ERA, while striking out 60 batters. Daniel Nuzzi has managed to secure three saves for the Fighting Knights on the season.
