KANSAS CITY, Mo. (July 13, 2017) – Adding to one of the most successful seasons in program history, Rollins men's basketball earned a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, it was announced Thursday.

The award recognizes outstanding academic achievement by teams with cumulative grade point averages (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2016-17 season. In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA must count the grade point averages of all men's basketball student-athletes who competed during the year.

The Tars posted a 3.19 GPA and put seven on the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll. Florida Southern was the only other SSC school to earn the NABC honor.

Rollins went 24-11 in the 2016-17 season, winning the SSC Tournament, NCAA South Region Championship and advanced to the Elite Eight for the second time in school history.
