SET-UP:
The Tars are coming off of a convincing midweek non-conference win against Ave Maria, 9-4. The Tars are coming off of back to back wins and they will look to continue their streak heading into this weekend, against the Barry University Buccaneers. The Tars currently sit at 23-15 this season, and 7-8 in the Sunshine State Conference, which is good for fifth place in the conference standings. The Bucs are coming off of a huge three game sweep against Saint Leo, that potentially could keep their postseason hopes alive. Overall, the Bucs are 19-22, and carry a 6-9 SSC record.     

TRACKING THE TARS:

Peter Nicoletto hit a triple against Ave Maria in his first at bat, and with that triple tied the all-time career SSC triples record with 25. The senior is having himself quite the season, batting .344 with 53 hits. Of those 53 hits, he has tallied 10 doubles, nine triples, and 10 home runs to go along with a team best 38 RBI. Brian Brooker is also contributing heavily to the Tars offense, he has 48 hits this year, with nine doubles and seven home runs. Mike Purcell leads the Tars in batting this season with a .350 average, as well as 55 hits. As a team, the Tars are batting .299 with 399 hits and 243 runs scored.

The Tars bullpen has improved as the year has gone on. Caleb Jakes is 4-1 on the year, pitching 45 innings and dishing out 45 strikeouts. Jakes ranks second in the SSC with an ERA of just 2.60. Sophomore Brad Case has pitched 72 innings so far, the most in the SSC and he ranks third in the SSC in strikeouts, with 75. AJ Chacon is 5-1 on the year, making 13 appearances on the mound, and has an ERA of just 3.71, which is 10th in the SSC. Joey Vecchione ranks third in the SSC in saves, with seven so far this season.   

TRACKING THE BUCS:

The Bucs are led by Julian Abreu, who is batting a deadly .385 this season from the plate. He has also tallied 65 hits, which is fourth best in the SSC, as well as 17 doubles, which is tied for first in the SSC. Justin Lamazares continues to drive in runs this season, generated 30 RBI as well as going deep a team high seven times. Ryan Baldwin has appeared in 41 games for the Bucs, starting 40 of them while also bringing in a team high 31 RBI this season, with five home runs.   

The Bucs have three pitchers all with a team high three wins this season. Nate Greve has made 17 appearances and nine starts, while compiling 51 strikeouts in 57 innings pitched. Lance Elder has made 17 appearances on the mound for the Bucs this season, pitching in 20.2 innings and dishing out 17 strikeouts. Daniel Broeseker has registered a team high seven saves this season to go along with a 1.03 ERA, in 26.1 innings pitched.
