SAINT LEO, Fla. (April 26, 2012) - The Rollins baseball team suffered an 8-3 road loss to the Saint Leo Lions Thursday at Southard Stadium.  Rollins will continue the series on Sunday due to graduations at Saint Leo University.

Right-handed starter Anthony Figliolia (6-3) struggled in his 12th appearance for the Tars allowing 10 hits and eight runs in 6.1 innings of work; he was saddled with the loss.

Saint Leo scored five runs in the first four innings of play as Rollins (25-17, 6-10 SSC) was only able to score one in the top of the second.  Sean Reilly scored the Tars' first run after reaching on a single through the left side and then coming around the bases on back-to-back hits.

Rollins held the Lions scoreless in the following two frames but not before Figliolia gave up a three-run bomb in the bottom of the seventh to extend the Lions' lead to 8-2.

In the top of the sixth after Josh Band grounded out to the pitcher, Brian Lattanzi singled through the left side and was driven in on a RBI triple by Zach Persky

Boston Langley chipped away at the Tars' deficit in the top of the ninth on a lead-off solo home run that nearly missed the flag pole in left centerfield.  Saint Leo reliever Austin Buck hit a bump in the road in the ninth as he walked the following two batters to place runners on first and second.  The Tars were unable to utilize a fielder's choice that put runners in scoring position as Kevin Mager recorded the final out of the game.

The Lions' starter, Chris Neely picked up his sixth win of the season in 6.2 innings of work as he recorded a game-high six strikeouts and scattered seven hits, allowing two runs.  Closer Austin Buck earned his third save of the season in 2.1 innings on the bump.

Langley tied his career-high of three hits and was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle with a double and a home run, along with one run scored and an RBI.

Lattanzi, Persky, Brandon Curson and Steve Betcherman registered the team's remaining hits.

Rollins will wrap up the SSC series against the Saint Leo Lions on Sunday, April 29 with game one of the doubleheader slated to begin at 1 p.m.  Fans can follow along on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
