DENVER, Colo. (April 27, 2012) - The second-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team took one more step to ending the season with a perfect record, defeating Regis 18-8, Friday afternoon. The Tars improve to 15-0 on the season and will finish out the regular season against Regis on Sunday afternoon before returning home.
Rollins has put themselves in the driver's seat and will wait for the selection committee to find out their next opponent.
The Blue and Gold used a quick hitting and frequent offensive attack in the first half to build separation between themselves and the Rangers. Rollins posted 10 goals in the first half, while the stingy defense held Regis to four markers in the first 30 minutes of action.
Coming out of the break both teams made adjustments, putting more emphasis on execution and making scoring more difficult. Regis came out and held the Tars to five goals, while netting four of their own. The Rangers could not make up enough ground in the second half and fell victim to having a tough first half.
Ginevra Czech and Erica Pagliarulo led the charge for the Tars with the duo netting three goals apiece, while Sophie Townsend and Mo Imel notched a pair of goals to help fuel the offense. Rollins also had five players each net one goal to round out the scoring and used assists from Step Wiedenhofer and Townsend to setup the attack.
The Tars were in control of the game from the start and look to make adjustments before Sunday's matchup against the Rangers in the regular-season finale for the Tars.
