Former Rollins Standout Tim Griffin Earns Spot in All-Star Game

CLINTON, Iowa (June 13, 2012) - Just two years after being drafted in the 28th round by the Seattle Mariners, former Rollins standout Tim Griffin will represent Single A affiliate Clinton LumberKings at the 2012 Midwest League All-Star Game, set to take place at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva, Ill.

Griffin, who has been a consistent reliever for the LumberKings, is 3-1 with a 3.03 ERA in 16 appearances.  In 32.3 innings of action, the hurler has recorded 20 strikeouts and has issued 10 walks. 

The Jacksonville, Fla. native played for the Everett Aquasox last season and wrapped up his second-year pro campaign with a 2.09 ERA and a 3-1 mark in 22 games.  He logged 38.2 innings for the Aquasox, striking out 41 and allowing only nine walks on the year.

In his final season at Rollins, Griffin racked up multiple postseason accolades including earning All-America honors.  He posted a 2.76 ERA in 17 contests, including 14 starts as he recorded 94 strikeouts en route to being named the 2010 Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Year.
