WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 5, 2011)- The Rollins sailing team captured a first place finish on the waters of Lake Virginia. The Tars beat out stiff competition from Florida, Eckerd, and Miami to capture the top spot in the nine team field.
The conditions were just right for the Tars, sailing in east winds that ranged from 6-10 mph. The A-Division was led by Brad Hoyt (skipper) and Jason Limbach (crew) with Tristan Jackson (skipper) and Caroline Leed (crew) competing in the B-Division.
The event was even more of a success with the help of the sailing team, which helped organize and manage the event. Ian Nora and Emily Nys were part of the race committee with Matt Smith and Jonathan Norcross assigned to records and scoring.
The Tars will return to the waters when they travel to Gainesville for South Points #4 on March 19.
