TAMPA, Fla. (January 14, 2012) - Michael Weinstein was a double-winner and Daniel Mazur took home a win, but 14th-ranked Tampa proved to be too deep as the Tars fell 109-87 Saturday.
Weinstein made a statement a month away from the Sunshine State Conference championship, posting two victories against the powerhouse Spartans. He took the 200-yard freestyle in 1:49.25 and won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.98.
The junior also teamed with Taylor Powers, Scott Barbee and Nate Burn to take third in the 200-yard freestyle relay, stopping the clock at 1:31.40.
Mazur took gold in the 1000-yard freestyle in 10:11.56 to go along with a runner-up finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:59.33. Mark Danielson was second in the 1000, stopping the clock in 10:25.07.
Sanborn turned in a time of 4:22.40 in the 400-yard IM to take second while Barbee was runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke (57.33) and Simpson took second in the 100-yard butterfly (56.44).
Rollins will be back in the pool Saturday, Jan. 21, hosting Daytona State in its final home meet of the season. Competition is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
