Rollins Ranks Fifth Nationally in First Fall Division II Learfield Cup Standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio (December 9, 2010) - Coming of a banner fall sports season, Rollins currently ranks as the fifth most successful NCAA Division II athletic department as NACDA released the first Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings, Thursday.

Led by a second place finish from the men's soccer team, Rollins totals 190 points. Football will be factored into the scoring where appropriate when its season is complete. The Tars volleyball team and women's soccer team earned 17th place finishes nationally and each earned 50 points.

Grand Valley State won national championships in women's soccer and women's cross country and leads the rankings with 358 points. Shippensburg (264) is second, followed by Tampa (224) in third and Chico State (220) in fourth.

Rollins finished 27th in the final poll last season and posted an all-time best of sixth in the 2003-04 season.
