WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 26, 2011)- The Rollins softball team collected another sweep in doubleheader action against Kentucky St., Saturday morning, 7-0 and 3-0. With the pair of victories the Tars improve to 11-1 on the season, while Kentucky St. falls to 0-6.

Hope Bitzer provided the offense for the Tars in the first game, collecting a pair of RBIs with her 3-for-4 hitting performance. Jessica Moreland, Amber Pederson, and Hiliary Brown also collected RBIs in the game to give the Tars the offense needed to claim the victory.

Sophomore hurler, Kirsten Frame went six and two thirds innings, allowing two hits and struck out five. With the victory Frame moves to 3-1 on the season after suffering her lone loss to defending national champion Hawaii Pacific.

The bats for the Tars were hot as eight of the nine hitters collected hits, with Krista Rodden and Bitzer collecting three apiece including a homerun from Bitzer.

Game two of the doubleheader saw the Tars struggle to produce runs against Kentucky St. Rollins was in trouble early with the Thorobrettes loading the bases with one out, but Bitzer pitched out of the jam to escape with no damage.

Offensively, Lawna Hunter, Veronica Alred, Rodden and Pederson collected two hits apiece with Pederson picking up two RBIs on the afternoon. Rodden tallied the other RBI to round out the scoring for the Tars.

Next up for the Tars will be Georgian Court and Concordia at the National Training Center for a pair of games before heading out on the road before ending the trip at the Francis Marion Patriot Invitational.
