OXFORD, Miss. (March 29, 2011) - The Rollins women's golf team travels to the Deep South this weekend as a participant in the Ole Miss Rebel Intercollegiate.
Rollins, ranked No. 4 in the latest Golf World/NGCA Coaches' Poll, is the only Division II team in the field of 18.
The Tars will be joined by Coastal Carolina, East Tennessee State, Kansas, Maryland, Memphis, Michigan, Mississippi State, Missouri, Murray State, SMU, South Florida, Southern Miss, Tennessee, Tulane, Tulsa, UCF and host Ole Miss.
The Tars are coming off a dual match victory over Harvard last weekend. Rollins shot a round of 305 and outdistanced the Crimson by eight strokes. Joanna Coe was the runaway winner, earning a five-shot victory with a two-under par 70.
Rollins has averaged a fourth place finish in its eight events this season, finishing runner-up at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate in February and third at the Nittany Lion Invitational in October.
Coe leads the Tars on the season with a 76.57 stroke average and two rounds under par. Fabia Rothenfluh carries a 76.73 stroke average and recorded a victory at the Nittany Lion Invitational earlier in the season.
The match will be the last of the regular season for the Tars as they will then play in the Sunshine State Conference Championship April 18-19 in Boca Raton.
