BOCA RATON, Fla. (April 18, 2011) - Cecilia Kleinert recorded a hole-in-one on the 133-yard, 13th hole and the Rollins women's golf team is within striking distance after day one of the Sunshine State Conference Championships.
Rollins hung scores of 299 and 311 (610) on the day and are 13 shots out of first heading into the final round. Nova Southeastern (300-297) and Florida Southern (294-303) are tied atop the leader board with scores of 597. Lynn (627) is fourth while Saint Leo (630) checks in at fifth.
Fabia Rothenfluh leads Rollins, sitting third with 148 strokes. She was one of the first round leaders with two birdies and a bogey for a one-under 71 over the first 18 holes. She carded a 77 in the afternoon and is just four shots out of first place.
Joanna Coe sits tied for fourth place, one shot back of Rothenfluh with 149 strokes. The senior posted a 77 to open the day and came back with an even-par 72 in the afternoon.
Elin Marcsdottir totals 156 strokes and is tied for 16th-place. She turned in scores of 75-81 on the day, including a pair of birdies in the first round.
Brianna Seo (77-81) and Kleniert (76-82) are tied for 18th with scores of 158. Kleniert's ace came in the second round on the 13th, hitting into a stiff wind.
Rollins will tee off in the late groups to start the final round Tuesday, April 19. Kleinert will begin at 9:30 with the final group taking off at 10:06. Fans can follow the action live at GolfStat.com.
