WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 27, 2011) - Runners-up at last season's national championship, the Rollins women's golf team was selected for its 11th trip to the NCAA Division II Championship, it was announced Tuesday.
The fourth-ranked Tars are one of nine teams in the South Region Championship, which will be hosted by Florida Southern at The Club at Eaglebrook in Lakeland. Teams will play 54-hole May 1-3.
Top-ranked Nova Southeastern, second-ranked Florida Southern and Belmont Abbey headline the field. UNC-Pembroke, Saint Leo, Newberry, Carson-Newman and Flagler will also be competing for a trip to the National Championship, hosted by Grand Valley State at The Meadows in Allendale, Michigan.
Rollins has qualified for all but one NCAA Championship in the tournament's history, winning five titles and four times finishing runner-up. They hold national records for most championships, most runners-up and most appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
