BRADENTON, Fla. (April 16, 2012) - An up and down day on a challenging course led Rollins to fourth place after day one of the 2012 Florida Blue Sunshine State Conference Championship.
The Tars were one of the more consistent teams on the day, turning in scores of 328-322 (650). Lynn ran away from the field, hanging rounds of 310-306 (616) to outdistance second place Florida Southern by 11 (627). Nova Southeastern totaled 634 strokes and is third.
Kayla Sciupider paces Rollins, sitting tied for eighth. The freshman shot an 82 to start, then came back to post the second-best round of the afternoon with a two-over 74. Her second round saw two birdies, 13 pars, two bogeys and just one double-bogey.
Elin Marcsdottir is tied for 17th after scores of 83-79 (162). Fabia Rothenfluh is three back of her teammate, tied for 21st with 165 strokes. The senior shot a 78 to start, but struggled on the back of the second and came back with an 87 (165).
Jennifer So is alone in 28th place, shooting rounds of 85-87 (172) while Kelly Krusoe is tied for 29th with scores of 91-82 (173).
Irene Calvo of Lynn and Melanie Audette of Florida Southern are tied for first, each totaling 152 strokes.
Tampa is hosting the 2012 Florida Blue SSC Championship at The Concession in Bradenton, a Jack Nicklaus and Tony Jacklin designed, par 72 course that totals 7,474 yards.
