CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (July 6, 2012) - Three Rollins women's golfers were honored as All-American Scholars by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA), it was announced Friday.
Senior Fabia Rothenfluh, junior Elin Marcsdottir and freshman Clara Teixeira were each honored on the list for their accomplishments on the course and in the classroom. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
Rothenfluh led Rollins on the season with a 77.55 stroke average in 27 rounds. She earned five top-20 finishes including tying for ninth at the University of Richmond Invitational. The senior eared three NGCA All-American Scholar awards in her career and was twice named NGCA All-America; Honorable Mention in 2010 and Second Team in 2011. Rothenfluh graduated with a degree in Economics.
Marcsdottir has also been named All-American Scholar each of the last three seasons and is coming off a standout junior campaign. She posted a 79.08 stroke average and three top-20 finishes. She tied for fifth at the Richmond Invitational while also posting a season best round of 71 at the Western Carolina Great Smokies Collegiate. Marcdottir is majoring in Economics.
Teixeira made an immediate impact for the Tars in her first season, posting a stroke average of 78.79 and three times finishing in the top-20. She had a career best at the Nova Southeastern Shark Invitational, finishing tied for eight place. Teixeira is undecided on a major.
