NEW YORK, N.Y. (August 29, 2012) - The Rollins women's golf team will begin the 2012-13 season as the 11th ranked team in the nation, according to Golf World/NGCA Division II College Women's Preseason Coaches' Poll.  The preseason rankings were released Wednesday.

Rollins narrowly missed the top-10 as they totaled 304 points while CSU-Monterey Bay came in 10th with 309 points.  Four-time National Champion Nova Southeastern took the top spot.  The Sharks received 24 first-place votes and 624 points.  Sunshine State Conference foe Florida Southern is No. 2 and earned the remaining first-place vote and 580 points.

Grand Canyon, St. Edward's and Tarleton State round out the top-five.

Also ranked in the top-10 were three other SSC schools with Lynn checking in at sixth, Barry in seventh and Saint Leo in ninth.  Florida Tech also received votes.

Head coach Julie Garner returns seven of nine letterwinners from one year ago.  The Tars will have to do without the talents of Fabia Rothenfluh and Cecilia Kleinert, who helped lead the squad to a seventh-place showing at the NCAA Division II Super Regional.  Rothenfluh was a two-time All-American and the recent recipient and Rollins' first-ever honoree of the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

The Tars open up the 2012-13 season at the Louisville Cardinal Cup on Sept. 17-18 in Louisville, Ky.
