MEMPHIS, Tenn. (November 15, 2011) - The majority of the Tars' defensive unit was named Daktronics All-South Region as five Tars were feted by the region's Sports Information Directors, Tuesday.
Goalkeeper Michelle Dillingham joined defenders Anita Cox and Charlotte Murrell on the First Team while midfielder Ashley Waplinger and forward Ali Schrader landed on the second team.
Dillingham, the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Year, posted a record of 12-2-2 between the posts, allowing just eight goals and ranking up 60 saves. She led the nation with 14 shutouts while ranking fifth in Goals Against Average (0.414) and 11th in Save Percentage (0.882). The Debary, Fla. native leaves Rollins as arguably its best goalkeeper of all-time, ranking second all-time in saves (245) and first in shutouts (39).
Cox and Murrell were the central defenders in the Tars vaunted backline. They held opponents to just over seven shots a game and were a large part of the Tars surrendering just eight goals. Cox added a goal and two assists on the season while Murrell tallied two goals and a helper. Murrell is also is tied atop Rollins career games played list with 76.
Waplinger led The Tars and was 20th in the nation with 11 assists to go along with a pair of goals on the season. After the big senior campaign, she stands alone in third in the Tars all-time assists list with 27. She played in 75 career games, tying for fourth all-time.
Schrader was Rollins' leading scorer, rolling up nine goals and four assists on the year. Her 22 points ranked seventh in the conference while also sitting fifth in goals scored. The junior's 16-career goals scored ranks 10th-in Rollins history.
Rollins finished second in the Sunshine State Conference and finished runner-up in the SSC Tournament. They were bounced out of the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament by Tampa on Sunday.
