WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 15, 2012)- The fourth-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team collected another win against a top five ranked opponent, Thursday evening, defeating Lock Haven, 18-10. Rollins improves to 8-0 on the season, while Lock Haven falls to 1-1.

Both teams came into tonight's meeting ranked fourth in the latest IWLCA Division II poll and both teams were looking to use this game as a barometer of their season. Rollins came out early and established their game plan with the Tars scoring three goals in the first two and half minutes of the opening half. Sophie Townsend, Cat Kelley and Erica Pagliarulo started the charge for the Tars as they would outscore the Eagles 11-3 in the opening frame.

Everytime Lock Haven scored a goal the Tars would respond with two or three of their own to put their imprint on the tempo of the game. Elyse De Lisle was busy in net on the evening, tallying 10 saves through 60 minutes of play. The defense came out strong and only allowed three first half goals.

Pagliarulo led the Tars on the offensive side, tallying five goals, while Townsend netted three and Kelley notched two goals. Anna Townsend, Sarah Ann Showell, Ginevra Czech, Tori Snow and Katie Palasz also chipped in on the offensive front with a goal apiece with Townsend collecting the only assist of the evening for the Tars.

The second half saw both teams make adjustments and play each other evenly with both teams netting seven goals in the second frame. Rollins and Lock Haven traded attacks with neither team being able to pull away. Rollins would be able to hold the Eagles at bay and come away with the win by virtue of a strong first half.

The Tars will welcome Stonehill to Barker Family Stadium at noon on Saturday for their next test.
