KANSAS CITY, KAN. (August 7, 2012) - Heading into its second season under head coach Alicia Milyak, Rollins landed 24th in the first NSCAA Division II ranking of 2012.

The Tars posted a 14-3-2 record a year ago, finishing runner-up in the Sunshine State Conference regular season and tournament. They earned a fourth straight No. 1 seed in the NCAA Division II South Region tournament and hosting duties at home.

The College of Saint Rose tops the poll and is followed by Grand Valley State and Armstrong Atlantic.

Rollins will face four teams recognized in the preseason rankings. The Tars meet eighth-ranked Tampa twice on the year with 20th-ranked Lynn and 23rd-ranked Saint Leo also on the 2012 slate.

Both West Florida and North Georgia received votes and will play Rollins Sept. 7 and Sept. 9, respectively, in Pensacola.

Unranked to begin the year, the Tars rolled off a school record 10 straight shutouts to start last season and climbed to as high as 10th in the national rankings.

On the attacking end of the field, Rollins returns leading goal scorer in senior Ali Schrader. The forward pounded in nine goals and added four assists on the year. Emma Jones with 11 points and Kelsey Boone with 10 also return up front for the Tars.

The stout defense will looked to be anchored by returners Anita Cox, Morgan Foster and Maddie Ginder. Talented midfielders Whitney Rohrer and Brenna McKee, back from injury, will also be key for the Tars.

Rollins will need to fill the big shoes of graduates Charlotte Murrell and Michelle Dillingham. Murrell was a two-time All-America selection as the Tars central defender and a four-time All-SSC selection. Dillingham is easily the best statistical goalkeeper in program history and was named the 2011 SSC Defensive Player of the Year.

Rollins' 2012 season starts with an exhibition at home against Flagler on Aug. 21. They then face four straight road tests to begin the regular season, starting with a trip to Denver to face Metro State and Regis on Labor Day Weekend.
