KANSAS CITY, Mo. (September 4, 2012) - After splitting matches in Denver on the season's opening weekend, the Rollins women's soccer team climbed eight spots to No. 16 in the first NSCAA/Continental Tire ranking of the season.
The Tars suffered a 4-2 loss to Metro State on Saturday, but bounced back in a big way with a 4-2 victory at Regis on Monday.
Six different players scored a goal for the Tars with Brenna McKee also adding three assists. Mary Spring played every minute in goal, recording six saves.
The top two remained unchanged with Saint Rose holding the No. 1 spot and Grand Valley State sitting second. Chico State, California (Pa.) and Fort Lewis round out the top-five.
Sunshine State Conference foe Saint Leo moved from No. 23 in the preseason to No. 8 in the latest poll. Florida Tech entered the ranking at No. 19 and Tampa fell out of the poll after starting No. 8 in the preseason.
Rollins next heads to Pensacola, Fla. for a pair of key early season games. The Tars will face West Florida on Friday, Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. and then meet North Georgia on Sunday, Sept. 9. Fans will be able to catch all the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
