MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (February 22, 2012) - Rollins came down to the wire for the second straight game, but again couldn't sink the big shot as the 14th-ranked Tars fell to Barry 71-66 Wednesday.

The loss drops Rollins (20-5; 11-4 SSC) into a second place tie with Barry (17-8, 11-4 SSC) in the Sunshine State Conference standings, a half game back of Florida Southern. The Mocs are the leader in the clubhouse and the Tars could claim a share of the SSC title with a win at Nova Southeastern on Saturday.

Ashley Jones led Rollins with 16 points and was the lone Tar to score in double-figures. Sarah Blackburn added nine points while Tera McDaniel, Ashley Losch and Kristina Mingos each netted six. Sarah Taylor pulled a down a career-high 10 rebounds.

Shanna Suttington hit a trio of 3-pointers and was perfect from the line, scoring 21 points to lead Barry (17-8, 11-4 SSC). Yvonne Houston added 20 points and six rebounds with Danielle DeBerry chipping in 13 points and seven rebounds.

Rollins shot 37 percent (25-67) while Barry hit 44 percent (27-61) from the field. The Tars were outrebounded 42-36 but forced 21 Bucs turnovers while committing 13.

Barry led 18-9 in the early going, but the Tars came back with a 7-0 run and cut the lead to two with 8:22 to play in the half. The Buccaneers rebuilt their advantage to 27-18 at the 2:37 mark and put Rollins into a 33-25 hole at the half.

The Tars were down as much as 11 with 14:18 in the second and then started to create offense with its defense, coming all the way back to lead 58-55 with eight minutes to play.

Barry later retook the lead 62-59 before a Kourtnie Berry 3-pointer knotted the score for the third time of the night. After a two minute scoring drought for both teams, the Bucs rattled off a 5-0 run and gained control.

Rollins twice made it a one-possession game down the stretch but couldn't sink the tying bucket and fell in back-to-back games for the first time all season.

The Tars will close the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 25 at Nova Southeastern. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. from the Don Taft Arena in Ft. Lauderdale. Fans can follow all the action live on the Tars Sports Network at
