Tars Finish Regular Season at UCF Black & Gold Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla. (October 14, 2011) - The Rollins men's and women's cross country teams each finished ninth at the regular-season ending UCF Black & Gold Challenge.

Rollins women scored 233 points and were ninth of 16 teams participating. Host Central Florida won the event with 88 points, winning the tiebreaker over Jacksonville.

Lauryn Falcone led the way for the Tars, placing seventh with a time of 22:50 over the 6k course. Justine Falcone took 21st place in a time of 23:57 and Mollie Jones was 48th in 25:04.

Christina Goodwin stopped the clock at 26:57 and finished 77th while Daniella Betencourt was 90th in 28:25. Hannah Lewis finished 120th (32:43), Jennifer Rios was 125th (34:45) and Emily Hendrix finished 128th (43:46).

The Rollins men totaled 273 points in their race, which was won by North Florida (30). Florida Gulf Coast (72) was second and Florida A&M (75) took third.

Blake Pierce led the Tars men with a 45th place finish and time of 28:57. Dan Mazur took 59th in 30:14 and Joe Skydel was 66th in a time of 31:43. Keegan Casella was 75th in 32:36 while Nick Mastrocola took 83rd (33:58).

The Tars will next head to Nova Southeastern for the 2011 Sunshine State Conference Championship on Saturday, Oct. 22.
