FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (October 22, 2011) - Lauryn Falcone earned Sunshine State Conference All-Championship team honors to lead the Rollins women to a sixth place finish at the SSC Championship on Saturday. The Tars men's team also finished sixth.
Falcone stopped the clock at 23:17 to finish eighth in the field of 53. The junior was also All-Championship last season, finishing in eighth place as well.
Justine Falcone ran her best race of the season and took 12th place in a time of 23:47. Mollie Jones earned a 30th place finish in a time of 26:12. Christina Goodwin took 33rd in 26:46 and Hailey Haines posted a time of 27:51 in 39th place.
Daniella Bettencourt finished 46th in a time of 29:46 while Hannah Lewis was 48th in 31:34. Emily Hendrix took 50th (31:39) and Jennifer Rios was 51st (31:45).
The Tars totaled 114 points at the event. Tampa won the championship with 29 points with Nova Southeastern (69) and Florida Tech (94) rounding out the top three.
On the men's side, Blake Pierce led the way with a 33rd place finish, covering the 8k course in 29:18. Dan Mazur finished 44th in 30:38 and Joe Skydel finished 49th with a time of 31:31.
Keegan Casilla was 51st (31:45), Clay Mitchell finished 53rd (32:28), Nick Mastercola 55th (33:02) and Ben Schuman 59th (34:16).
Rollins will next participate in the 2011 NCAA Division II South Regional, hosted by Tampa, on Nov. 5.
