CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 5, 2012) - The Rollins men's lacrosse team kept pace early with Queens University, but fell 12-6. The Tars struggled to find the back of the net in the third period, which proved to be the difference in the game. Rollins falls to 1-6 on the season and will have one more road game before returning home.

The first 15 minutes saw both teams open up slowly with Queens and Rollins combining for three combined goals, with Queens having a one goal lead heading into the second period. The second period saw both teams ratchet up the offense with Queens scoring four goals and the Tars three.

After falling behind in the first period, 2-0, the Tars rattled off three consecutive goals to take their first lead of the game at 3-2. Queens would score two goals to lead by one before Stephen DeFlumeri tied things back at four, midway through the second period. Queens would end the second half scoring two goals late in the period to seal a two goal advantage before the break.

Coming out into the third period, Queens dominated the play and put the game out of reach with a five goal period, while only allowing Rollins to convert one of their three shots into a goal. The five goal margin would be all Queens needed to seal the victory and remain undefeated on the season.

The fourth period saw both teams even out the score sheet with one tally from each side to end the game with a 12-6 score.

Freshmen Will Diamond continued his successful first year, tallying two more goals for a total of 11 on the season. Jack Dever and Stephen DeFlumeri also tallied two goals, while Chuck Magid picked up two helpers on the afternoon. Andrew Post and Mike Lupinacci rounded out the score sheet for the Tars as they each tallied an assist. Connor O'Leary led the team with a game-high six groundballs to help fuel the attack for the Tars.

Rollins will continue its road trip when they travel to Banner Elk, N.C. to take on Lees-McRae in their final game on the Carolina swing before heading home, with game time slated 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
