TAMPA, Fla. (August 31, 2012) - Lauryn Falcone turned in a fourth place finish and Blake Pierce led the Rollins men as the Tars cross country teams started their seasons at the University of Tampa Early Bird Classic Friday evening.
Falcone was in the lead group, running the 5k course in 19:31.24 and starting the year with a bang. She was just two seconds off a top-three finish and five seconds behind winner Juliana Boehm of Valdosta State.
Emily Hendrix was next for Rollins, finishing 120th in 29:48. Hannah Lewis was 123rd with a time of 30:07 while Jennifer Rios took 131st in 34:32.
Pierce paced the Tars in the men's four-mile race, finishing 58th in a time of 23:30. Kyle Sawyer was right on his heels in 59th, just two seconds back (23:32). Dan Mazur finished 86th in 25:38 and Cameron Mullins was 100th with a time of 31:06.
The Rollins harriers will be back in action Sept. 15 in Lakeland at the Florida Southern Invitational.
