TITUSVILLE, Fla. (September 28, 2012) - Both Lauryn and Justine Falcone set personal records while Kyle Sawyer led the Rollins men at the FLRunners.com Invitational on Friday.
In the women's division, the Tars totaled 89 points and finished fourth of the seven teams competing. UCF took the championship with 89 points, followed by Florida International (67) and Palm Beach Atlantic (70).
Rollins was seventh on the men's side with 161 points. Stetson took home the trophy with 54 points, while Florida International was second with 75.
Lauryn Falcone finished second in the field of 75 runners; her fourth top-five finish in as many races this season. The senior covered the 5k distance in 18:27.80, setting a new career best by nearly 30 seconds. Justine Falcone finished seventh in a PR time of 19:21, bettering her previous best of 19:34.
Sarah Ankli finished 28th in a time of 20:27 with Mary-Ellen Garner finishing 44th (22:13) and Danielle Rioux taking 46th (22:22). Emily Hendrix recorded a time of 25:23 to finish 57th, Haley Haines was 61st in 25:42 and Jessica Deese took 63rd in 25:54. Jennifer Rios finished 67th (27:47) and Sarah Dobish was 68th (28:27).
Sawyer easily had the best race of his young career, taking 16th in a time of 17:30. Emmitt Horvath finished 50th in a time of 20:03 while Jeff Dirkin in 56th and Blake Pierce in 57th each recorded times of 20:17.
C.J. Dunn finished 61st (20:33), Cameron Mullins took 62nd (20:36) and Joe Skydel 63rd (20:38).
Rollins will run in its last meet of the regular season on Friday, Oct. 12 at the UCF Black & Gold Invitational in Orlando.
