FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (December 19, 2011) - Another pair of Tars earned NCAA B standards to highlight the final day of competition at the NSU Shark Invitational.
The Rollins women finished fourth in the six-team event, totaling 485.5 points. Tampa (1514) won and was followed by host Nova Southeastern (1289.5). The Tars' men's squad was sixth with Tampa (1369.5) and NSU (1205) leading the pack.
Grace Alexander earned a NCAA B-cut time with a fourth-place finish in the 1650 freestyle, posting a time of 17:52.07. Jenny Nilson was sixth in 17:55.71. Leandra Lima picked up a 12th place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.47 while Katie Gentsch was 12th in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:40. 11.
Rollins' 400-yard freestyle relay team of Nilson, Lima, Jessica Spiegel and Samantha Sigaty was seventh in 3:40.25.
On the men's side, Michael Weinstein took sixth in the 100-yard freestyle, recording a NCAA B-cut time of 46.61. Brian Sanborn was ninth in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:32.34 while Mark Danielson was 12th in 16:53.60.
The Tars finished strong with a sixth-place in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Weinstein, Danielson, Taylor Powers and Nate Burn stopped the clock at 3:10.34.
Rollins will take off for the holiday break before getting back into the pool on Tuesday, Jan. 10, hosting Westminster at 2 p.m.
