WINTER PARK, Fla. (January 7, 2017) – Rollins swim teams returned home to the Alfond Pool to host the Westminster Titans Saturday afternoon. The Rollins men fell to the Titans by a score of 181-81. The women also lost out to Westminster with a final score of 144-117.
Arron Nestor placed first in two of the four events he participated in. In the 500-yard freestyle, Nestor finished with a time of 4:53.59, and in the 1000-yard freestyle, stopping the clock with a time of 10:13.37, six seconds ahead of the next closest competitor.
Luiggi Reno continued to do well for the Tars, getting a first-place finish of his own in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:01.64. Reno also picked up a second-place finish in the 100-yard IM, finishing in 57.28 seconds.
Leading the way for the women, Makenzie Grider and Cara Dealy each won two events, with another three Tars winning events as well. Grider won the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in 2:03.00 and 5:25.06 respectively. Dealy found herself in first in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.39) and the 100-yard fly (1:04.27).
Grace Hansen placed in three events, winning the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:59.24, and placing second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.03) and the 100-yard IM (1:05.11).
After making her season debut with the Tars last time out, Taylor Wilks continued to do well. Wilks beat out the rest of the competition in the 50-yard breaststroke, finishing in 32.37, and placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.82.
The Tars return to the pool on Saturday, January 21, at 1 p.m. when Rollins travels to Saint Leo, Florida to take on the Saint Leo Lions.
