WINTER PARK, Fla.
(March 28, 2012) - After a week where the Tars dropped two games to
conference foe, No. 12 Tampa, Rollins (24-6, 7-2) slides six spots to 17th
in latest edition of the rankings, the Association announced on Wednesday.
Valdosta State (25-2) became the fourth team in four weeks to sit atop the polls,
receiving 11 of 16 first place votes this week to take over the poll's top spot
for the first time since Feb. 23, 2011.
Indianapolis (26-1) jumped up two spots to second, while Winona State (23-2) also moved up two places to third. Fellow SSC member, Barry (28-5), went from sixth to fourth in the latest poll, while previous No. 1 Angelo State (26-5) fell to fifth.
The Tars will be back in action Wednesday evening when they welcome Mount Mercy to Winter Park for a double header with game one set for 6 pm. Fans can follow all the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
The NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll is voted on by 16 NCAA Division II head coaches, two representing each of the eight NCAA regions. Final 2011 records are shown; first-place votes are in parentheses.
