ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (September 24, 2012) - In the Tars' season opener, the Rollins men's golf team posted rounds of 304 and 300 to place them fifth after the first day of the Jay Jennison Memorial Invitational.
No. 2 Barry University and No. 23 Armstrong Atlantic lead the way as the Pirates and Bucs registered two-round scores of 585. Newberry sits in third with a 594, while Saint Leo stands in fourth with a 601.
Rollins' Tyler Sluman shot rounds of 72 and 70 for a 2-under-par 142 to tie him for first with Saint Leo's Trevor Joseph. Davis finished one stroke over par with a 145 (73-72) to put him tied for fourth.
Scott Lamb shot a 158 and is tied for 42nd and Felipe Quiroga tallied a 159 to tie him for 45th. Newcomer Thomas Gouveia shot a 169 to place him 59th.
The Tars will conclude play with the final 18 holes on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
