ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (September 25, 2012) - The Rollins men's golf team wrapped up their season opener with a seventh place finish at the Jay Jennison Memorial Invitational.
Rollins carded a 310 in the final 18 holes of play to bring their total score to a 914, dropping two spots from yesterday. No. 23 Armstrong Atlantic held onto their lead and shot two strokes better than their previous round to take first place with a two-day score of 883. No. 2 Barry finished second with an 887. Coker took third place with a 905, while Newberry and Saint Leo tied for fourth with a 911.
Tyler Sluman finished as the Tars' top performer with a second place finish. Sluman carded a 76 in his last 18 holes for a 2-over-par 218. Davis Hall tied for fifth with a combined score of 222 (73-72-77).
Senior Scott Lamb shot four strokes better than his previous round and tied for 23rd with a 232. Felipe Quiroga tied for 48th with a 242 and Thomas Gouveia finished 60th with a 253.
The Tars will be back in action on Oct. 8-9 as they compete in the Nova Southeastern Shark Invitational in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
