VALDOSTA, Ga. (March 14, 2017) – Rollins moved up a spot into the top-10 to close the 2017 First Federal Southeastern Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
Rollins shot rounds of 300-306-301 to tie with Georgia Southwestern with 43-over par scores of 907. Top-ranked West Florida won the event in a runaway with a five-over 869 (284-297-288). Barry was second with 883 strokes while Lynn took third with a 20-over 884.
Weather played a big factor in the event with unseasonably cold temperatures blowing through Kinderlou Forest in Valdosta, Georgia.
Of the 18 teams in the tournament, all but two are ranked nationally including nine of the top-15 schools in the country.
Senior Jakob Van de Flierdt led the way for Rollins, finishing tied for 18th with a seven-over score of 223. He carded rounds of 73-74-76 over the three-day event.
Sam Grindle posted a solid 10-over 226 and tied for 28th place, shooting 75-75-76. Will Hall was two back of Grindle, finishing tied for 40th after scores of 73-80-75 (228). Collin Engelhardt also shot a final-round 75 and tied for 55th with 231 (79-77-75) strokes. Barry Babbitt took 80th place with a 21-over 237, shooting scores of 79-83-75.
Rollins is back in action March 20-21 at the Georgia College Bobcat Invitational in Eatonton, Georgia.
