WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 27, 2012) - Rollins senior Lucas Jovita was the unanimous pick for Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year, highlighting four Tars honored on All-SSC teams.

Jovita earned a spot on First Team singles and, along with Jason Albaster, was named First Team doubles. Jeff Morris was also named First Team in singles while freshman Malte Christesen was named Honorable Mention All-SSC.

The second-ranked player in the nation, Jovita followed a historic fall season with a just as impressive spring campaign. After transferring from USF to start the year, he won the ITA Division II National Championship and became the first Rollins player to win the ITA Small College Super Bowl. He entered the spring as the top-ranked player in Division II, but fell in the first match of the season. Jovita then rattled off 19 straight wins and posted a perfect 6-0 record in the SSC. He owns a 5-0 record against nationally ranked opponents while dropping just five total sets on the year. Jovita played at the No. 1 position in every match.

Jovita became the sixth Tar to be named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year.

In doubles, Jovita and Alabaster posted a 15-4 mark playing in the No. 1 position, including a 4-1 record in the SSC. The duo's last time out was an 8-4 win over the eighth-ranked tandem from Saint Leo in the SSC Tournament third place match.

Morris, the 2010 conference player of the year, capped off one of the most decorated careers in school history, going 18-3 overall and 6-0 in the SSC. He was 6-2 against ranked players, including wins over the NAIA's top ranked player and fifth-ranked Willi Wolfer of Lynn, the 2011 SSC Player of the Year. Morris is a four-time All-Sunshine State Conference honoree, earning Freshman of the Year in 2009 and landing on the First Team each of the last three seasons.

Christesen made a huge splash since joining the team for the spring season, posting a 13-7 overall record and 4-1 mark in the conference.

Sixth-ranked Rollins (16-8) matches up with 18th-ranked Saint Leo in the first round of the NCAA Division II South Region Championship at West Florida on Sunday, April 29.
