Winter Park, Fla. (Wednesday, March 29) – The Tars were just narrowly edged out by third-ranked Saint Leo, falling to the Lions by a score of 5-4. Rollins drops to 7-8 on the season and 1-2 in SSC play, while Saint Leo improves to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the SSC.

The duo of Patrick Sell and Sami Kirberg were able to secure an 8-4 victory in the second position of the doubles matches. However, the Lions were victorious in both the first and third positions, gaining a 2-1 lead over the Tars heading into singles play.

The Tars and the Lions split the singles matches 3-3, with the Tars claiming wins in the fourth, fifth, and sixth positions. Ziad Melhaoui defeated his opponent 6-3, 6-2, Kirberg recorded his second win on the day in a 6-3, 5-7, 6-1 victory, and Cody Gubin rounded out the Tars’ victories in a 7-5, 6-1 decision over his opponent.

The Tars will return to competition on Tuesday, April 4for the finale of their 12-match home stint. Rollins will face-off against Florida Southern with match time slated for 3 p.m.
