 Neil Clausen

Made an instant impact as a freshman in 2009 and has continued the stellar play throughout his career. Named ITA All-America in doubles play with Jeff Morris in 2010 – first team All-SSC in singles and doubles in 2009. Also named ITA Academic All-America.

2009-10: Named ITA All-America in doubles with partner Jeff Morris. In singles, ranked nationally the entire spring season and posted a record of 11-8, playing at the No. 2 position. Began the year ranked 14th in the nation, fell to 34th in the second poll and ended the year 37th nationally and 20th in the South Region. Victorious in final three matches of the regular season and went unfinished through first four matches of post season. Took the nation’s 20th ranked player to three sets in the NCAA Tournament before falling in the final set. In doubles, teams with Jeff Morris to make up one of the top tandems in the nation. Posted a 17-4 record with Morris at No. 1 and 0-2 record with Arturo Barvalle at No. 3. Along with Morris, finished the year ranked fifth in the nation and third in the South Region. Clausen and Morris defeated teams ranked in the nation’s top-15 four times, including a win over the fourth ranked tandem in the NCAA tournament. Named to the Sunshine State Conference First Team Doubles and Second Team Singles. Also a top student-athletes, posted a 4.0 GPA in the Spring 2010 semester. Named to the Rollins College Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll…In the Fall season, advanced to the semifinals of the Rollins/C.L. Varner Memorial Tournament. Upset the tournament’s top seeded player in the second round. Teamed with Nick Rowlands to advance to the second round in doubles play. At the ITA Southeast Region Tournament, advanced to the second round of singles play.

2008-09: Had a breakout freshman season, posting an 18-2 singles record. Went 3-0 at No. 1, 14-2 at No. 2 and 1-0 at No. 3. Faced nationally ranked players four times, winning twice. Ranked as high as 27th nationally in singles during the year, ending the season ranked 32nd. In doubles play, teamed with four different partners to post a 17-6 record, including a 17-4 mark at No. 1 and 4-2 record in SSC play. Was named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week on April 13th. Earned a spot on the First Team All-Sunshine State Conference Singles and Doubles teams. Named to the Rollins College Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll. In the fall season, teamed with Pablo Seijo to win the top flight doubles at the C.L. Varner Memorial Tournament. At the ITA Southeast Regional Championships, advanced to the Round of 16 in the singles draw to lead the Tars.
