WINTER PARK, Fla (February 18, 2017) – The Tars struggled to gain any momentum, facing the sixth ranked Barry Buccaneers on Saturday morning.  The Bucs ran out to an early lead and did not look back besting Rollins 9-0.  The loss drops the No. 38 Tars’ record to 1-2 on the year and 0-1 in Sunshine State Conference action.  Barry improves to 7-0 and 1-0 in conference play.

Rollins could not break through against the Bucs' sturdy doubles play.  Shannon Etten and Alexandra Borg fought to an 8-4 defeat.

Barry controlled the singles matches from the outset as well.  Etten again found herself in a battle, but came up short against No. 18 Dasha Salnikova 6-3, 6-4.  Carlye Goldman, who entered the match ranked 20th in the south, paired with Sonja Larson, who was ranked No. 22 nationally, but Larsen proved to be too much, taking the match is straight sets.

The tars will look to return to their winning ways tomorrow when they host Palm Beach Atlantic to the Martin Tennis Complex.  First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
