LAKELAND, Fla. (March 29, 2017) – Rollins jumped out to an early lead, but could not hang on down the stretch losing a heartbreaker to No. 25 Florida Southern.  The loss drops Rollins to 7-9 on the year and 2-4 in the Sunshine State conference.  The Mocs improve to 10-4 and 4-1 in SSC play.

The Tars swept doubles play to take a 3-0 lead.  Fabiana Vitanza and Alexandra Borg teamed up to capture an 8-6 win in the first position.  The pair of Shannon Etten and Carlye Goldman were also victorious by a score of 8-6 in the second spot.  Savanna Fuller and Teresa Kaiser cruised home in the third position, winning 8-3.

The Mocs mounted a furious comeback in singles action, taking five of the six matches.  Rollins only singles win went to Borg, who defeated Selin Devrimci 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in the fourth position.

The Tars will take another road trip for their next competition.  Rollins will head to St. Petersburg to take on Eckerd on Wednesday, April 5.  First serve is slated for 4 p.m.
