INDIANAPOLIS (October 26, 2011) - The Rollins Tars volleyball team received their highest region ranking in program history as the Tars were ranked second in the south region, it was announced Wednesday.
Rollins has culminated a 13-4 in-region record to place them second behind Sunshine State Conference foe No. 1 Tampa. The Spartans have gone undefeated this season and are 15-0 in-region with a 23-0 overall mark.
Of the 10 teams ranked in the south region, five belong to the Sunshine State Conference. With the No. 1 Spartans and Tars in the top-two spots, the Eckerd Tritons rank third, followed by Florida Southern in seventh, and the Saint Leo Lions in ninth.
The top seven teams in the region will earn a bid to the 2011 NCAA Division II South Region Tournament with a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) earning an automatic bid for the eighth and final spot.
